Chocolate Tahini Gut Health Energy Balls (Gluten Free, Refined Sugar Free)
These Chocolate Tahini Gut-Health Energy Balls are rich, fudgy, and made with ingredients that actually support digestion. They’re naturally sweetened, packed with healthy fats, and easy to prep for the week.
Even in the midst of focusing on my gut health, i’m always craving something chocolatey, but I still want to keep it light and supportive of my gut. These energy balls are my new obsession for just that!. They’ve got the deep cocoa flavor of a brownie bite, but they’re made with dates, tahini, almond flour, and a scoop of gut-supportive chocolate powder.
Watch Me Make Chocolate Tahini Gut Health Balls
I wanted something that could live in the fridge all week and hit that sweet spot between a dessert and functional gut healing snack. These do just that. They’re rolled in a cocoa sugar blend that makes them feel like a straight up truffle, and they take less than 10 minutes to make.
They’re also super customizable! You can add cacao nibs, a sprinkle of flaky salt, or even chopped pistachios for crunch. ORRRR better yet, dip them in melted dark chocolate for even more indulgence. Keep them stashed in the fridge or freezer, and enjoy anytime your gut and your chocolate cravings both need a little bit of extra love.

What You’ll Need
Medjool dates – Use soft, sticky dates. If yours are dry, soak them in hot water for 10 minutes before blending.
Tahini – Gives the balls a rich, nutty flavor. Use a runny tahini for easier blending.
Almond flour – Helps bind everything together and adds texture.
Chocolate gut health powder – I used Terra Origins chocolate gut support blend, but you can sub with your favorite clean chocolate protein if needed.
Vanilla extract + salt – Rounds out the flavor!
Cocoa Powder - Don’t use straight cocoa powder or it will have a bitter taste (talking from experience). (See below)
Coconut Sugar– I used a mix of cocoa powder and coconut sugar to roll them in. It gives them a truffle-like feel.
How To Make
Add dates, tahini, and vanilla to a food processor and pulse until a thick paste forms.
Add almond flour, chocolate gut health powder, and salt. Blend again until a dough forms.
Taste and adjust if needed—add 1–2 more dates if too dry, or a splash of almond milk if crumbly.
Roll into 10–12 small balls.
Mix together cocoa powder and coconut sugar, then roll each ball to coat.
Store in the fridge for up to 1 week, or freezer for up to 2 months.

FAQ
Can I use a different nut or seed butter instead of tahini?
Yes! Almond butter or sunflower seed butter both work well if you prefer a milder flavor or need a sesame-free option.
Are these balls actually good for gut health?
Absolutely. The gut health powder used contains L-glutamine, slippery elm, marshmallow root, quercetin, DGL, and zinc carnosine, which are all ingredients known to support gut lining integrity and reduce inflammation.
Can I leave out the gut health powder?
You can, but it’s what makes these balls functional beyond just being a snack. If omitting, I suggest replacing with an equal amount protein powder or collagen powder.
How long do they last?
They’ll keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or in the freezer for up to 2 months. Store in an airtight container.
